For the first tutorial you may want to give students a taste of what some classroom management is like

Ask the to form 2 lines outside the room and then enter quietly
Assign them desks to sit at - separating those who appear to be friends
Present them with a list of rules and expectations that you have - no input on their behalf
Use stickers as rewards for those who are doing the right thing etc
Now turn this into a reflective task and discussion session
Students can be asked to complete an inital pre unit sheet: tutors can collect these and advise as to any areas that may need to be covered in addition to those on the unit outline - second document provides for reflection on what may cause behaviour problems
